IC
Name: Minako Arisato
Age: 16
Game Handle: Eurydice
Canon: Persona 3 Portable
Appearance: here. Her eyes have more of a red-brown hue than in the linked image.
Personality:
The AU history provided places Minako at an early "canon" point of her personality. As such, she is not brilliant, charismatic, or courageous like a late-game Minako would be. She has a lot of room to grow in front of her, and I will do my best to describe initial personality state and inherent dispositions.
Minako is a person who believes in putting their best face on... even if the face is fake. Dealing with multiple families, homes, and schools has conditioned her to adapt very quickly. She tries to say what people want to hear. This goes through numerous stages as she gets to know a person. Initially, her fake persona is to keep the other person quiet. They hear what they want to hear, and Minako gets to keep her true self private. At intimacy level two, she's saying what they want to hear because of her fondness. In this case, the true self is hidden because it doesn't match the projected ideal. Finally, Minako gains the courage to tell the truth, while only occasionally hiding behind the fake face. At this point, she has no one she can be that honest with.
The aforementioned "true self," is a nebulous concept. Deep down, Minako wants people she can be honest with. However, her private nature keeps her from revealing this easily. After all, her "true self" wants someone to like her best of everyone. Her true self eats too many sweets. And sometimes her true self gets bored listening to other people talk. She would rather be liked under a fake face than risk using her real face.
AU History:
note: I've confirmed this shared history with Minato's applicant.
Minako Arisato found herself abruptly orphaned after a car crash on Iwatodai's Moonlight Bridge. She and her brother, no more than six years old, lost their parents. They stayed in the hospital, and that was the last time the two spent together for a very long time. They were split afterwords, each going with a different foster family. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Minako ended up with many foster families. She was shuffled around from house to house, family to family, never fitting in.
Finally, when she was sixteen, she applied to a private school with dormitories. Rather than shuffling through families, she would live in a dorm. The school was actually on Port Island, adjacent to Iwatodai. Everyday she would see the bridge where her parents passed away. At the new school, she was prepared to start the same cycle again. Find a niche, adjust herself to fit in it, not attract attention. Instead, she found an abrupt spotlight:
Her brother, transferring in to the same school on the same day.
With their interesting situation and similar names, their relationship soon became a "thing." Minako abruptly realized her niche was "Minato's Sister." While frustrated to have that decided for her, she began to adjust.
Minato, the less social of the two, eventually recommended they try a new game: a virtual reality game. Seeing a place to temporarily escape her niche and make a new persona, Minako agreed. Little did she know, it wouldn't just be "for a few hours on weekends."
Samples
First Person: Action and or a text message is fine. We want to hear your character's voice here so try to focus on that specifically. There should be at least 5 to 8 IC sentences. And, if you're able to, it's fine to link a previous thread you had with the character in a previous game/musebox/meme thread/etc. A linked thread should have at least 10 comments from your character.
Third Person:
Minako thought very carefully about creating her character. It had to be something that no one at school would suspect. But, since she'd be literally "playing it," the body should be the same. About the same age, about the same height. Then she started changing things. Long, red hair. Golden eyes. Gold-hued armor that stood out from a crowd. No one would possibly equate that with average Minako Arisato. It was a way to escape her current role. Sure, she was playing with Minato, but she didn't have to act sisterly. In fact, she expressly forbid him from telling anyone they were related.
So, when the mirror broke everyone's avatars, when she was left as herself, she was frustrated to say the least. Suddenly boys and girls from her class could recognize her, call her over. "Oh, not partying with your brother?" "You're really climbing the tower?" "Doesn't this suck?" And Minako would answer politely. That: "Oh, Minato's working on crafting." "It's not like I'm on the Front Lines." "Yes, it's really scary." When in truth, she just trusted Minato to take care of himself, couldn't sit around, and thinks it would suck a lot less if she had her avatar.
No matter how this world went, her persona was fractured. She was stuck between sisterly, kind Minako and adventurous Eurydice. Maybe, if she can just get out, things can be stable again. She can act like everything in this world was done of desperation.
"It's not like I enjoy fighting..." she would lie with a smile. "I just want everyone to get home safely, you know?"
