Character Information
Name: Minako Arisato
Canon: Persona 3 Portable (video game)
Canon Point: mid-January 2010
Age: 16
Gender: Female
History: Female Protagonist Wiki Page; History is shared with Male Protagonist.
Personality:
Minako is a bright, cheerful girl that places extreme value on her friendships. She is optimistic and thinks the best of people. She has limits, but manages to absorb a lot of bad treatment before she can't forgive a person. She does her best to be understanding of other people's situations. Because of instability in her own life, she finds great joy in the happiness of others.
In contrast to the male protagonist, she is shown to be more friendly and open with her fellow SEES members. She actively pursues friendships with every member, including a dog and robot. She will adjust her behavior according to who she is with. This habit has allowed her to form strong bonds with the people around her. Initially, these personality adjustments were a defense mechanism of kind. Minako was moved around a lot after her parents died. Wanting to be liked, she adjusted the way she acted from person to person. She didn’t have to be consistent, because no one knew her long enough for it to matter.
In her early time at Iwatodai, the defense mechanism was in full force. However, by forming bonds with the other members of SEES, her reactions became more earnest and up-front. As all the social links grew stronger, and were based on genuine feeling, she could give more honest answers. She grows extremely attached to her social links. She shows her affection with a mix of motherly caring and teasing. When push comes to shove, she will put all her support behind her friends.
Minako is a Genius, Bewitching, Badass. She wasn’t born that way, of course. However, she diligently studied, put on a good face in class, and always tried new things. She put great importance on improving herself since coming to Iwatodai. This applies to both her personal characteristics and her ability to use the Wild Card. She didn’t indulge in Tartarus like a game, but didn’t chide Junpei or Akihiko for treating it as such. Rather, she knew her Wild Card was a special ability and the other were relying on her to improve it. She holds herself to a higher standard in her training.
Her weakness lies in her reaction to emotional situations. She puts excessive pressure on herself and ignores her personal feelings to try and be a better leader. Rather than handling grief in a healthy manner, she tries to hide it under the surface. In the case of Shinjiro, she wanted to appear strong for Akihiko and Ken. In the case of Ryoji, she didn’t want the rest of SEES to be distracted by her grieving. She internalizes anger as well, attempting to deal with Shinjiro’s murderer in a calm manner.
Abilities Information
Fighter or Sacrifice?: Sacrifice
Canon abilities: Minako is a very special Persona-user: the Wild Card. Most people can only access one Persona within their soul. Minako can access and store numerous within her psyche. This is reflected in the malleable personality she shows strangers. In wordspell, I propose this ability would make her very flexible with bonding. Any bond she formed would be a bit stronger than the usual because of her ability. This is also the justification for the ZERO designation. Minako represents the arcana of the Fool: infinite possibilities and new beginnings. The Fool is often portrayed as Card 0 of the major arcana. She can form strong bonds with others very quickly. Although this is a bit different from the interchangeable nature of the ZERO, I believe her powers would be interpreted that way by the world.

Ah, good evening. My name is Minako Arisato. I've found a place on-campus that will allow us to practice with dummy weapons. We won't be using them in wordspell battles, but I think that physical training helps strengthen the spirit. I'm going to start training there on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I wouldn't mind company. My specialty- [she reaches off screen, pulling out a long, slim, wooden staff with a cloth-wrapped weight at the end,] -is the naginata. This is just the practice one I threw together, though...
[She sets it back down, righting herself in her chair and smiling.] I can try teaching anyone, if they'd like. After all, we're all in this together, aren't we?
Third Person:
The mysterious new students flooded the halls of Gora. To accommodate these newcomers, the staff quickly put together a course on the most basic subjects. A mandatory class on the natures of fighters and sacrifices was held. All of the new students were required to attend. Minako found herself tired in the lecture. The new situation and the stress of leaving home had kept her up late into the night. She fought off the urge to doze in class by copying notes diligently.
She was a “Sacrifice.” The word stood out on the page, refusing to be ignored. She wasn’t quite sure if she liked the label. She tried to put off thinking about the implications, continuing to copy down information. The nature of Sacrifice and Fighter. A Sacrifice is to command their Fighter. That made well enough sense. Her time with SEES made her adept at giving orders. In tight situations, she could utter precise commands. Giving commands would be easy enough.
The other duty of the Sacrifice worried her more. She would take damage for her Fighter in battle. When exploring Tartarus, she gave commands, but was always in the heat of battle herself. She took on many roles, but they were all directly related to combat. Here, she could not wield a weapon or a Persona. She could only provide strength to her Fighter. Minako stopped writing for a moment and tapped her eraser against the desk. She couldn’t directly affect the battle. It worried her. At least, she thought to herself, there wasn’t a great battle to be fought here. There was precious time to find someone she could trust. She could adjust, with time.
Her eyes drifted back to the blackboard, where she quickly had to make up the difference between the lines there and on her paper. A bonded pair... her pen flew across the paper as she copied the notes. It seemed a lot different from a social link. It was far more mutual and binding. At school, she could visit many different people over the course of the week. Here, she would have one partner. There would be other friends, but one partner.
Was it always romantic? It got a bit easier to imagine when she put SEES members in that spot. She could work with Junpei. He would come when she called; he would like being the hero. Akihiko-senpai probably wouldn’t like a fight with words; they'd have to study techniques. Ken-kun would be very eloquent; would age gaps work between partners? Oh, and girls could be paired with girls. Misturu-senpai would be a valuable ally, she imagined. Yukari-chan would complain about it, but if they got to partner up it would be alright. Aigis... Aigis was kind of like a Fighter back then, wasn’t she? Minako remembered when they first met. Aigis held her closely and said her highest priority was to stay with her.
“Fighters, you have probably noticed you don’t have a true name,” the teacher's voice cut through the haze. Minako tuned back into the lecture. “Don’t worry- you’re just Blank! You’ll take your Sacrifice’s name once you bond.”
The Sacrifice's name. Minako sighed and tried to clear her head of the thoughts of SEES. Even if they were here... she rested her hand over her ribbon, over her chest where a single number was emblazoned. Even if they were here, she wouldn’t want to wish this ZERO on them.

PERSONA @ GORA
Given the designation of "Fighter" or "Sacrifice," you are now confined to the mysterious academy, Gora. Many freedoms have been taken away, except to choose a partner, form a bond, and explore the realm of Wordspell Battles. Perhaps, since it's the only path open, it's the only path out.
